Edmund W. Cheng (PhD, LSE) is Associate Professor of the Department of Public Policy, Associate Director of Centre for Public Affairs and Law, and Director of the Political Analysis Lab at the City University of Hong Kong. His research interests include comparative politics, contentious politics, political communication, research methods, Hong Kong politics, and Global China. His work has appeared in China Quarterly, China Journal, Information, Communication & Society, International Political Science Review, Political Studies, Mobilization, Sociological Methodology, among others. He recently co-edited the special issues “Revisiting the Public Sphere in 20th and 21st Century China” with Sebastian Veg in China Quarterly and “Organizing without Organizations: Networked Movements in Asia” with Francis Lee in Social Movement Studies. Cheng is the Vice President of the Hong Kong Political Science Association and the Principal Investigator of the World Values Survey for Hong Kong. .
