Annual Conference 2023

The Annual Conference of the Society for Hong Kong Studies provides the opportunity for professionals involved in the study of Hong Kong to share knowledge and new directions in research and practice.

Informality in Hong Kong

We are pleased to announce that Professor Alan Smart, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at University of Calgary will be our keynote speaker at the SHKS Annual Conference 2023 on the theme “Informality in Hong Kong”. The Conference will be held 16-17 June 2023 in Hong Kong and will be a hybrid event, with both in-person and online participation options available.

The theme of the conference is highly relevant to Hong Kong’s current social and economic landscape, and we believe that it will generate insightful discussions and bring together academics and professionals from various fields related to Hong Kong studies.

You will find the conference programme handbook here.

We look forward to your participation in this exciting event.
