Job Opening: Program Manager (Full-Time)

The Program Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the Society for Hong Kong Studies. Key responsibilities include assisting the Executive Board in developing and implementing the strategic plan, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and overseeing the Society’s fundraising and grant management efforts. The Program Manager will also be responsible for developing and executing effective communication and outreach strategies, coordinating various events and workshops, and managing the Society’s membership records and operations. These responsibilities will help drive the success and growth of the organization.

Program Manager (Full-Time)

Location: Hong Kong

Responsibilities:

The appointee will be responsible for the following:

  1. Strategic Planning and Governance:
    • Assist the Executive Board in developing and implementing the Society’s strategic plan.
    • Support the Executive Board in managing the Society’s administrative and secretarial matters.
    • Ensure the Society’s compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
  2. Fundraising and Grant Writing:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure funding from various sources.
    • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities, prepare grant proposals, and manage the grant application process.
    • Oversee the implementation and reporting of grant-funded projects.
  3. Communications and Outreach:
    • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to enhance the Society’s visibility and promote its activities to a broad audience.
    • Manage the Society’s website, social media platforms, and other communication channels, ensuring regular updates and engaging content.
  4. Event Management:
    • Coordinate and organize various events, conferences, and workshops, from planning to execution, including logistics, budgeting, and guest coordination.
    • Handle recruitment and management of volunteers and interns for events and other Society activities.
  5. Membership and Operations:
    • Help maintain accurate records of membership, membership fee, and other data related to the Society’s operations.
    • Handle membership drive and enquiries from the members of the Society and the public.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Society’s Executive Board.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant field;
  • Minimum five years of relevant post-qualification experience in a leadership or managerial role within a nonprofit organization, professional association, or academic institution;
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising, grant writing, and strategic planning;
  • Experience in event management, volunteer coordination, and stakeholder engagement;
  • An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with the ability to engage diverse audiences;
  • Familiarity with web design, content management, and social media platforms;
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Executive Board, members, and external partners;
  • A good understanding of the academia and familiarity with Hong Kong’s research landscape is highly desired.

The successful candidate will be a strategic and visionary leader, with the ability to drive the Society’s growth and impact through effective fundraising, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview.

Job Description

Working Hours:

The holder of the position is expected to work a standard 40-hour workweek.

Salary & Benefits:

We offer a highly competitive remuneration package of HK$30,000 per month for this position. In addition, the benefits package includes 20 days of annual leave.
