Resilience and Recovery

We are delighted to announce the upcoming Society for Hong Kong Studies Annual Conference 2024, which will take place on June 14-15, 2024 at the University of Hong Kong. It will be a hybrid event, with both in-person and online participation (exclusively availalbe to SHKS active members) options available. This format enables a broader audience to join us, fostering global connections and facilitating knowledge exchange.

Resilience and Recovery

This year’s conference theme, “Resilience and Recovery”, promises to ignite an engaging and thought-provoking event that will foster collective and multi-disciplinary reflections on the evolving field of Hong Kong Studies. We believe that this theme will inspire insightful discussions and provide a platform to bring together academics and professionals from diverse fields related to Hong Kong studies.

Keynote Speech: Academic Freedom under One Country Two Systems

We are honoured to have Professor Hualing Fu 傅華伶教授, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Hong Kong, as our keynote speaker. Professor Fu, who holds the Warren Chan Professorship in Human Rights and Responsibilities, is renowned for his outstanding contributions to academia. His keynote address titled, “Academic Freedom under One Country Two Systems”, promises to be a thought-provoking and insightful addition to the conference.
